DESCRIPTION
Michigan's wildflowers are not only beautiful, they're key to the survival of native birds, butterflies, insects, wildlife and more. The wildflowers featured in this series of block print designs are ones I discovered growing on Mackinac Island while performing a study about monarch habitats for the Mackinac Island State Park and Kalamazoo College. They are a great conversation starter about what makes a landscape biodiverse and nature-friendly.
ORIGINAL RELIEF PRINT
In relief printmaking, an artist applies ink to a hand-carved block and then burnishes the inked relief onto a piece of paper. Multiple originals are possible by re-inking the carved surface and burnishing the relief onto a new piece of paper. The total number of identical prints is the edition number.
