Andrea's Wale Illustration
Illustration by Amy Ferguson of Printer & Press. 11 x 14 Art Print. Packaged in a clear bag.
About the artist:
Amy Ferguson graduated in 2015 with a B.F.A. in illustration from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. While she lives in Metro Detroit, she says her "spirit lives in the Leelanau peninsula in Northern Michigan where spent summers at her family cabin on Little Traverse Lake. Almost all prints are signed A.Marie instead of Amy. This is in tribute to her grandmother Mimi, who always supported her and would have loved to be here to see Amy pursue her dream of being a successful artist.
Her artwork is centered on what she loves most: nature, animals and fantasy.
About her art:
Drawing is at the core of every piece of artwork she creates. Every illustration is hand-drawn to scale as a detailed pencil drawing first, usually on bristol board with a 2H or technical pencil. She then goes over her pencil work with black archival ink pens to create originals.
Her printmaking work goes hand and hand with her drawing work. I’ll transfer a pencil drawing onto copper and draw the image again with an etching needle. The plate then is etched in an acid bath and printed on my table-top etching press.
Both her etchings and ink drawings get scanned into Adobe Photoshop to be colored digitally. This allows her to experiment along the way, and add colors in ways you can’t traditionally. Every piece takes weeks to make, having so many stages to the process.
