Winter Waves. Framed original watercolor by Janice Dumas. The scene depicts Lake Michigan waves breaking near the Michigan City East Pierhead Lighthouse. Built in 1904, the iconic lighthouse is the only public operating lighthouse in Indiana. This original work looks beautiful when paired with Superior Shore by Janice Dumas.
About the Artist:
Janice Dumas has been fascinated with watercolor since she was a teenager in southeast Michigan. Her love of nature and the beauty around us has inspired her focus on plein air painting for 15 years. One of the founding members of the Michigan Plein Air Painters, Janice has participated in paint-out events in several Michigan locations including Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Milford and Cadillac. Her work has been exhibited in several juried shows including ArtPrize, and the Michigan Watercolor Society.
Winter Waves is the second in her new series of paintings concentrating on the “Great Lakes of Michigan and Beyond.” In creating this series encompassing all five of the Great Lakes with their varying landscapes, Janice hopes to promote awareness of the necessity to protect the important resource we have in the Great Lakes. A lifetime resident of the Midwest, Janice graduated with a BFA from Wayne State University.
