Doe Crossing. 8 x 6 in. Original mixed media linoleum block print by Michigan artist Natalia Wohletz of Peninsula Prints. The artist saw this beautiful doe fleeing her cottage yard after munching on tree leaves. Before printing the green block, the details underneath were hand-painted. This print makes a great gift for nature lovers of all types! Its soft, but vibrant hues will fit in with almost any interior color palettes and it will certainly catch the eye of any passerby! The print looks great as a set with Deer in the Woods.
The original print may be ordered with an archival white mat and backing board in a clear, recyclable bag or with a single archival white mat in a black wood gallery frame. To design a custom frame specifically styled for your space, please order the matted original and message us to start the design process. The print design is also available as a card.
About the artist:
Draw. Carve. Print. Those are the three steps Michigan artist Natalia Wohletz takes to create linoleum block prints. After carving her first block in fall 2014, printmaking immediately became her passion. She enjoys exploring printmaking’s place on the border between art and craft, and the challenge of flipping traditional positive-negative space techniques when creating her work.
Natalia is inspired by Michigan's natural landscapes and wildlife. Many of her designs showcase scenes of Mackinac Island where she spent her childhood exploring the woods and lakeshore. Natalia's prints have been featured in ArtPrize and juried gallery exhibitions throughout Michigan. The artist's print, Trail Lookout, won first prize in the 2019 Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Island Art Museum. For every card and original print sold, Natalia makes a donation to the Mackinac Island Community Foundation to support the arts and environmental initiatives.
