4x4 Lighthouse - Lake Michigan Blue by Little Traverse Tileworks
It has been said that at one time there were as many as 247 lighthouses in Michigan! We thought we should embrace that but we could not pick one lighthouse to model our tile from so we went with a more generic lighthouse. This way it could resemble many different lighthouses in Michigan instead of just one.
The tile looks great on an easel, framed alone or with a collection of tiles. There's a notch on the back for hanging. The decorative tile is made of American stoneware, handcrafted in Petoskey, Michigan, and suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.
About the artists:
Cora Smith and her colleagues at Little Traverse Tileworks work in the classic Arts & Crafts style and begin each tile with a design either hand carved in plaster or sculpted in clay developed in Michigan. They draw from natural images such as maple leaves, sailboats and local lakes to develop designs that resonate in tile.
