Natalia Wohletz is a printmaker, painter, nature lover and entrepreneur. Her fondest memories include the times she spent exploring Mackinac Island’s woods and shorelines. These experiences shaped her passion for the natural world and inspire her earthy, dynamic block print designs.
The name of her art business, Peninsula Prints, is an ode to Michigan, her home state and muse. Michigan landscapes, architecture, wildlife and lifestyle continuously provide ample inspiration for her work. Natalia finds block prints exciting to explore because she must flip traditional positive-negative space techniques and create the work in reverse. Her award-winning prints have been featured in several juried art exhibitions (i.e. Best of Show Award, 2019 Mackinac Island Contemporary Art Exhibit), ArtPrize 10, and are on permanent display in the Michigan Supreme Court’s Hall of Justice.
While block printing is at the core of her artistic work, Natalia also paints, illustrates, writes and binds books in her spare time. She holds a Bachelors degree in mathematics from Kalamazoo College and worked full time in corporate America, before deciding to take a leap in 2019 to focus on art full time. She has since been furiously creating new print designs and is the owner of Main Street Art.
Natalia makes a donation for every print and card she sells to support art and environmental initiatives in Michigan. She hopes her work encourages viewers to appreciate and protect the flowers, fauna, lakes and creatures that inhabit our beautiful state.
